Beacon St Oakland, California, 94610 - Cleveland HeightsDumped sometime after midnight April 10th. A large tote filled with gobs of small plastic containers filled with prizes of sort inside each. They were all over the street until a neighbor and myself contained them in a clear plastic bag. In addition, there are 2 large black garbage bags with unknown items and another white garbage bag with what looks like toxic chemicals. Please help soon before someone tears everything open and spills this plastic and chemicals in the street, gutters and sewage drains. Our garbage cans are not large enough to help. Thank you.

Park - Lighting Acknowledged1520 Lakeside Dr Oakland, California, 94612 - Lake MerrittThe Blue guy on the left of the photo asked me to report the wires to this light that joins the other numerous lake lights that are being ripped out around the lake. He suggested that we put ground utility covers that lock so they don't get damaged in the future. This particular light box is located to the left of Lake Chalet Grill. He also said his buddy died and is floating in the lake further up. He wanted to know if you could fish him out and give him a proper burial. The last thing he said is it has been tough sifting for food in the lake with an accumulation of garbage particularly on the lakeshore ave side. Thank you very much💕

Illegal Dumping – mattress/boxspring ArchivedBoden Way & Beacon St Oakland, California, 94610 - Cleveland Heights
This mattress was reported weeks ago from another concerned neighbor. Still remains on the corner of Boden and Beacon. Why? So I am reporting it again.
Our neighborhood seems to be a dumping ground for this kind of stuff. Neighbors here clean up garbage all the time. But we can't take care of large stuff like a mattress.
Thank you -

Street Light (Not Traffic Signal) - Outage/Damaged AcknowledgedE 12th St & 16th Ave Oakland, California, 94606 - East PeraltaMultiple street lights on both sides of east 12th street are completely out between 16th and 23rd (possibly more) leaving the streets very dark with large amounts of garbage and homeless encampment stretched in this area. It's been like this for atleast a year. It makes it VERY hard to see people, animals and debri at night. This is a HUGE safety concern and it is unexceptable that this has not been fixed yet.

Parking - Abandoned Vehicle AcknowledgedBeacon St & Lakeshore Ave Oakland, CA, 94610, USA - Cleveland Heights
Older, White, 4 door Toyota, Plate number 3PHH690. This abandoned car was reported on May 2 and again on May 8th, reference # 1294281.
As of May 25th, this car is still present next to the park on Lakeshore, except now the license plates have been removed and a person moved in. The person has put up a privacy cardboard in back windows. So now, this is more than just an abandoned car issue that should have been towed long ago. It is now serving as a home to a houseless person issue.
You've seen how big things have grown all up and down on 12th street and at Clinton Park...all the commercial businesses are without street lights at night and an obscene amount garbage is everywhere. No human being should be living like this.
It this the trajectory for Lakeshore and Grand Ave?
I don't have the answers but I do know this is unacceptable.

Traffic Safety (non-emergency) AcknowledgedBeacon St & Lakeshore Ave Oakland, California, 94610 - Cleveland Heights
This is a reoccurring situationI see all the time. A car parks in the red zone (faded) and blocks the view for pedestrians and on coming traffic creating a very dangerous situation in this crosswalk that directly connects people to the park across the street.
In the photo, you can see a pedestrian attempting to cross when the red car was unable to see her and plows through the crosswalk. Another car going in the opposite direction isn't even paying any attention. Oakland you need to make the crosswalks all along Lakeshore Ave more safe for pedestrians and cyclists.
At the very least, paint the red curbs and ticket cars that park in red curb zones. Thank you

Homeless Encampment AcknowledgedLakeshore Ave Oakland, California, 94606 - Merritt
You all are fully aware of the housing needs and the houseless folks around Oakland and in particular, around Lake Merritt. Everyday I, along with many other residents who walk around this beautiful lake cannot overlook the houseless, the garbage accumulating, the lake filled with debri, and wildlife getting trapped in the debri. I see city folks and volunteers trying to keep up with it but to no avail, it just keeps returning. It is sad, it is unhealthy and everyone is suffering - especially the houseless, the health of the lake and its wildlife.
I assume the houseless have nowhere to get the basic care and shelter they need right now. I see tiny house options here and there but obviously that isn't enough. It seems the houseless are allowed to stay around the perimeter of the lake. It would be inhumane to shove them off with no resources or place to go. So what to do?
The houseless generate a tremendous amount of garbage. This is hurting them, the residents, the merchants, the lake and the wildlife. The tiny cans all around the lake are never going to be enough.
Ideally, no one should be camping and starting fires around Lake Merritt. But, if we are to live among the houseless around the lake, how can we provide a more acceptable and healthier setting for all of us? Can we provide resources for the houseless to dispose of their garbage surrounding their campsites? Can we provide more suitable tents that give them shelter until something more stable is available for them to go to? Is there a better location around the lake instead of right on the lake to pitch their tent? Are there healthy boundaries we can convey to them - the do 's and dont's while they are temporarily displaced? Don't allow them to build their homes all over the plant life which they are doing now.
While these are not pretty to look at (porta potties and washing stations), it is better than them using the environment. Are there medical services that are able to check in on them and give them even just a little bit of medical help or direction? Are their social services that come out to offer support?
What are the revenues from Measure W that passed a couple years ago doing for our houseless folks right now?
I know this is more than a community issue...it is our Nations issue that has it's priorities all mixed up but for now, I am here to garner more help.

Other City Services ArchivedBeacon St Oakland, California, 94610 - Cleveland HeightsStreet sweeping services have not occurred on Beacon St in several weeks, since January 2023. Beacon St has service every 2nd and 4th Monday and the other side is every 2nd and 4th Tuesday. Once again, no service came on February 13 which is my side of the street. I even saw a ticket officer once giving tickets to parked cars and no sweep service bothered to come. We pay for this service, don't we?
